Milan, 15-18 March 2016 – Over the last two years, MCE, the world’s leading exhibition dedicated to residential and industrial installations, HVAC and renewable energies, has strongly pursued the path to sustainability – certified on 18 March 2014 by ICIM, an accredited independent certification body – in compliance with the specific requirements of the International standard ISO 20121 ' Event Sustainability Management Systems’.
Complying with the specific requirements of ISO 20121 and key sustainability issues, from the design an delivery of MCE up to the choice of suppliers and the post-event planning activities, the voluntary conformity will certify that the event has been planned to yield economic benefits respecting economic, social and environmental principles. The event management system upholds the following principles: integrity, leadership, inclusivity, transparency that are reflected in its attention to clients, stakeholders human resources needs. Innovation, involvement and commitment aim at improve and develop all those issues that cause environmental, economic and social impacts.
As to the implementation of the Event Management System for MCE 2016, Reed Exhibitions Italia is committed to implementing the framework of good practice to minimise negative impacts on the environment, while maximising overall outcomes and leaving a positive impact in terms of comfort and well-being of stakeholders. A strong commitment focused on reaching objectives and specific targets aimed to educate stakeholders to improve their performance on sustainability issues.
In pursuing its sustainability objectives for the planning, design and delivery of MCE 2016, Reed Exhibitions Italia has identified some issues as key to its business success. Developing a set of goals in order to improve environmental sustainability, such as improving and making electronically available information to reduce paper marketing materials usage, or educating stakeholders on sustainability issues: use of sustainably-sourced materials on their stands. As for social sustainability, ensuring that any products to be displayed are under conditions of respect for industrial and property rights; guaranteeing to both internal staff and also exhibitors, visitors ideal working conditions as well as respect for health and safety; and raising money for charity stepping up promotional activity. Last but not least, the goals focused on economic sustainability including managing promotional campaigns and visibility initiatives effectively in order to increase the number of exhibitors and visitors as well as marketing opportunities for improving the sustainability of the event.
