Whirlpool invests 120 million US dollars in Mexico refrigerator factory expansion

According to overseas media reports, Whirlpool announced in the middle of the year that it would invest 120 million U.S. dollars to expand its factory in Coahuila, Mexico.

The investment is mainly used to increase the production capacity and upgrade the refrigerator production line. From 2021 to 2024, US$110 million will be invested to build a new French door refrigerator production line. The annual output is expected to exceed 300,000 units. In addition, more than 10 million US dollars of investment will be used to increase the production capacity of side-by-side refrigerators (SXS). The project will start in 2022 and increase the production capacity by about 10%.

Prior to this investment, Whirlpool had invested more than US$28 million in other factories in Mexico. In 2021, Whirlpool’s total investment plan in Mexico has exceeded US$150 million.
