The systems uses hydraulics to take power from the truck engine PTO to drive the refrigeration unit.

Hultsteins UK manufacturing partner is Cold Connect which will make the on-board power-generating units for single and multi-temperature refigeration.

Four systems will be on display, two from Hultsteins, produced in Sweden and two from Cold Connect, made in the UK.

The Cold Connect Ecogen EG25 and SG25 were developed by Cold Connect for trucks or tractors. Ecogen is a hydraulic drive generator which connects to the engine’s PTO and plugs in to any fridge with mains electric operation.

Fuel consumption and emissions are reduced while generating a constant 400-volt, 3-phase electrical power to the same standard as the mains supply.

Ecogen SG25 will be demonstrated on a new Iveco Stralis LNG truck.

Hultsteins HS215 and HU13, produced in Sweden by Hultsteins, are front and undermounted respectively and designed for single and multi-temperature applications. Again, the connect directly to the truck PTOto deliver constant full-power regardless of the engine speed.

“Fuel saving and reliable solutions with reduced emissions are common denominators for Hultsteins and Cold Connect,” says Stephen Maile, director, Cold Connect.

“This has given both companies a unique position in a market where diesel-powered refrigeration units are increasingly questioned.”

“It is our belief that the integration of Cold Connect with Hultsteins will further develop the stepping stone towards cleaner electric refrigeration, providing sustainable solutions well into the future,” he says.
