VÄSTRA FRÖLUNDA, Sweden — Swegon, a leading producer and supplier of indoor climate systems and products, announced it has acquired Ruskin Air Management Ltd (RAML) from Johnson Controls International plc.
RAML is a leading manufacturer of air distribution, fire and smoke control, and ventilation products in the United Kingdom and Ireland, with more than 50 years of experience in the market.
Through its portfolio of brands, RAML products deliver air management solutions to enhance a facility’s ability to operate comfortably, efficiently, safely, and in compliance with regulatory requirements. The company has 220 employees with operations in Whitstable, Kent, and Bridgnorth, Shropshire, United Kingdom.
“This acquisition gives us a very strong local presence and identity in the UK through the well-known RAML brands. In addition, with RAML, we add a new competence area in Swegon in the form of their extensive fire and smoke product knowledge. RAML products are complementary for us and we see good potential for cross sales in the future. As a long-term industrial investor, our aim is to reinforce and further develop the local manufacturing base in both Whitstable and Bridgnorth, which are excellent in producing customized products for the local market with short delivery times,” said Hannu Saastamoinen, CEO of Swegon.
“This is a perfect match for Ruskin Air Management Ltd. and we look forward to continue our growth momentum as part of the Swegon Group,” said Kevin Munson, managing director, Ruskin Air Management Ltd.
“This is a win-win,” said Tom Edwards, vice president and general manager, global air systems at Johnson Controls. “Swegon Group has a strong history of successful, long-term investments, and this establishes a growth position for the company in the UK and mainland Europe. At the same time, we gain a capable partner that helps strengthen our distribution channel for airside products in the region.”
