U.S.-based Hansen Technologies Corporation has launched a new Motorized Control Valve targeting the industrial refrigeration market. The new valve, which is compatible with all refrigerant types, can be used to control operating temperature and pressure of ammonia refrigeration systems.

Hansen Technologies Corporation (Hantech), based in Burr Ridge, Illinois, is a leading supplier of smart solutions for industrial refrigeration systems. Their product portfolio includes valves, pumps, controls and safety detection for ammonia-based systems.

The Motorized Control Valve is a direct motor actuated valve designed for operation in DX, liquid makeup, temperature, pressure and level control applications for a wide variety of refrigerants.

The MCV has already been proven with over 80,000 hours in the field coupled with over 10 years of accelerated life testing.

According to Hansen, what makes the system unique is its hermetic design using stem seals, which the firm says “has eliminated refrigerant leakage because the non-electric rotor and stem are enclosed in a stainless steel can which contains the fluid pressure”.

The motorized valve can also be integrated into a computer system to allow for proper regulation, which could be particularly useful for maintaining the safety of ammonia systems.

Hansen has provided guides on safe use of the valve at different temperatures and pressures for ammonia.

MCV features:

- One high-torque motor fits all

- 3/4"- 2"valves (20 to 50mm)

- Self-Calibrating: Automatic calibration on power-up

- Safe Working Pressure:

800 psig (SWP) for weld-in-line valves upon request

400 psig (SWP) for flanged valves

- Max. Operating pressure differential: 800 psid

- Wide temperature range

Ambient: -40°F - 122°F

Refrigerant: -75°F - 240°F

- Low voltage power input 24 Volt AC or DC

- Various Input Control Signal Choices:

0-20 mA, 4-20 mA, 0-5 V, 0-10 V, 1-6 V, and dry contact

- Valve position feedback

- Built-in Digital Readout 4-20 mA output signal
