JAPAN: Increased sales of Mitsubishi Electric air conditioning has helped offset a sales decrease across the group for the first fiscal quarter of the year to June 30.
The Japanese manufacturer’s home appliances business achieved total sales of JPY261.9bn (€2.3bn), a 3% increase from the same quarter last year. The increase is said to have been due to improved sales of residential and industrial air conditioners in Japan as well as air conditioners in Europe, despite negative influences caused by the stronger yen.
This helped offset a 6% decrease in sales across the group to JPY927bn (€8.1bn).
