CMP Corporation recently introduced a complete line of remanufactured versions of the popular 06N helical rotary screw compressor. By developing an exclusive, cost-effective re-engineering process, CMP is now able to offer the reliable performance of a new 06N compressor without the high price of an OEM unit.
Available in nine different motor horsepowers for all capacities, the versatile remanufactured 06N compressors can be made in sizes from 123 to 300 cfm, or 33 to 70 tons, in six different voltages for either 50 or 60 hz applications. The capacity variation comes from overdriving the compressor rotors via differing gear sets, thereby varying their rpm. Because the remanufactured compressors include so many options, there are 127 unique model numbers in the new 06N line.
The CMP 06N units have two hydraulic, electrically operated unloading mechanisms, allowing them to work in either 45% or 70% unloaded condition. The rotating and thrust loads are carried by a combination of straight and tapered roller bearings. The motors are 2-pole, 3500 rpm at 60 hz.
“We believe the industry will be as excited as we are about these new compressors,” says Craig Taylor, Technical Specialist at CMP. “The remanufactured 06Ns perform equally well for both air-cooled condenser duty at medium temperatures and water-cooled condenser applications at low temps. The compressors are also available in both economized and non-economized versions.”
Lubrication for the 06Ns is provided by an external oil separator that removes oil from the refrigerant stream and returns it to the compressor’s oiling system. The units are designed for use with R134a refrigerant and POE oil only.
The new 06N compressors weigh approximately 850 pounds, but can fit on a standard-sized shipping pallet.
