Due to the loss of pressure during air flow, the fittings have the greatest impact – fittings with as little local resistance as possible should be used in the ventilation system (the smallest roughness). From economic point of view, it’s best to use ducts with round cross-section, due to the lowest material need and the smallest workload of implementation. On the other hand, the implementation of fittings with round cross-section is usually cheaper and easier, than in the case of rectangular fittings. In order to minimize the values of air flow resistance, Alnor proposes e.g. the use of pressed elements.

The most commonly used material for the production of ducts is zinc-coated steel sheet. Ventilation ducts and fittings with round cross-section e.g. Alnor with diameters from 80 to 1600 mm, are made of zinc-coated, acid-proof or aluminium steel sheet with the sealing class D, in accordance with Eurovent certification. Moreover, the ducts with diameter above 250 mm are usually corrugated, which results in increased rigidity and vacuum pressure strength.

The fittings are equipped in a gasket, which meets the sealing class D in accordance with the PN-EN 12237:2005 standard. In addition, there are also available, among others: segment bends, collar saddles, T-pieces and crossing T-pieces, reducers, nipples, end caps, take-offs, couplings.

A new feature is the use of copper ducts. It should be noted that the copper has good thermal conductivity, strength, corrosion resistance, resistance to changes in weather conditions and changes in air pressure in the system, as well as biostatic properties that reduce bacteria, which come into contact with surface of the ducts. The Alnor’s offer includes ducts with diameters from 100 to 500 mm. The copper fittings are manufactured in a segmental manner with dimensions equal to the sheet metal fittings. Ducts and fittings of this brand are used both in residential buildings and industrial buildings, with increased air humidity and the risk of contact with chemical factors.

During planning of the wiring system in the building, also the assembly requirements are taken into account. Therefore, it’s worth to pay attention to those manufacturers, who along with the ducts provide complete assembly accessories, which allows for reduction of the investment costs. You should also check, whether they have been subjected to the strength tests. Suspension elements e.g. from Alnor’s FIX system have received Technical Recommendation of ITB confirming the compliance of the products with requirements specified in the recommendation. Recently, the STRUT assembly system has been introduced to the offer of this brand, which is used for suspending and fixing of installation elements, as well as construction elements.

More and more often, you can encounter the implementation of ventilation system (e.g. in single family buildings) from elastic pipes run in the concrete floors or the space between the ceiling beams. Moreover, in the offer of many manufacturers there are available wires insulated with mineral wool with the thickness of 25-30 mm, which have sound insulation.

The unique feature of such products of the Alnor brand is having classification reports in the scope of reaction to fire. Appropriate selection of the ducts is conducted by the designer of ventilation systems, who determines their dimensions and shape by following the calculated air flow and its required speed. Here, it’s also important to take into account the purpose of the building, available assembly space, as well as the acoustic requirements imposed on the given ventilation device.
