SCOP : The SCOP( seasonal Coefficient of Performance) value refers to the seasonal efficiency in heating mode. During a year, some months the ground with better heat source and some months the air with better heat source. The dual source heat pump can automatically shift between ground and air depends on the best efficiency. DCOP (Daily coefficient of performance), many days of the year, can be day time the air’s heat source will be better than ground especially when there is sunshine, in this case the heat pump will absorb the heat from air at day and absorb the heat from the ground at night, therefore dual source heat pump’s DCOP will be much bigger than any sole ground source heat pump or sole air source heat pump.
The dual source heat pump with DC inverter gets the best SCOP and DCOP. Suppose you are going to have ground source heat pump, why not spend a few bucks to buy an extra evaporator, then your heat pump will saves the most energy you ever had.
