Star Refrigeration delivered two days of seminars and professional development opportunities for the heating and cooling sector.

Engineers, contractors and business owners from the food and drink manufacturing, cold storage, pharma, petrochemical and ice rink sectors took advantage of Star Refrigeration’s free CPD events on 1414 and 16th June 2022. The delegates arrived at Curl Aberdeen and the Moorings Hotel in Glasgow for the Net Zero Roadshow and heard presentations on the industry’s most pressing topics including the F-gas regulation, legislation updates and reducing energy/carbon footprint.

One of the most popular Q&A sessions was energy efficiency and waste heat recovery as businesses continue to battle with the soaring rise in energy costs.

Calum McKenzie, Star Refrigeration’s Regional Manager – Scotland, said, “There was a great turnout for the 2022 Roadshow with attendees from a variety of different sectors, and we’re proud we were able to host these events and provide expert advice and guidance. It is clear that the phase down of high GWP HFCs demands urgent action, and the use of natural refrigerants such as ammonia and CO2 will only continue to accelerate.”

In addition to the half day of specialist seminars, attendees were given the chance to visit a local Star site to view a recently installed refrigeration plant and learn about its operation. Star employees took delegates on tours of Curl Aberdeen and Lineage Logistics, explaining how energy efficiency design, controls and aftercare keep the plants performing at their optimal condition.

Julie Dunn from Dunn Food and Drinks, said, “Star has delivered a fantastic day of presentations and Q&A sessions which have helped us plan for the future and protect our business from imminent legislation changes and rising energy costs.”

For customers who could not attend the Roadshow dates, the presentations are available on request. Star is also planning further regional roadshows in England later this year and is offering customers the opportunity for mini-roadshows at their premises to run through the topics and answer any specific questions.

Brian Banks of Piramal Pharma Solutions said, “It’s important that all engineering managers keep their knowledge up to date, especially where compliance is concerned. The Star refrigeration event reviewed some important potential changes to regulatory guidance and that knowledge will help me to de-risk future installations. I also gained knowledge that will help my team to manage our existing refrigeration systems better“.

It was clear that Star are passionate about helping wider industry to become more sustainable and the information the experts provided was of genuine value, presented in a relaxed but professional way.
