Petra boost as coronavirus restrictions ease

HVAC equipment manufacturer Petra has been authorised to partially re-open its factory and has restarted production activities for chillers and air handling units.

Jordan was among the first countries to react to the coronavirus pandemic, imposing a nationwide lockdown on March 18 and enforcing a strict curfew. While the Jordanian government has now announced a further extension the lockdown to April 30, the industrial sector including Petra Engineering Industries have been authorised to partially re-open their production facilitates.

The company’s website advises that the company is taking all the necessary additional measures to ensure the safety of its employees at work and is currently working with suppliers and logistics partners to ensure the flow of components and materials. It also says that it is evaluating its backlog of orders and expediting the shipment of semi completed orders, and rescheduling orders that were affected by the shutdown.

Omar Ali, director of operations thanked Petra’s customers for their patience during a “difficult and challenging period”.  

Martin Altenbokum, business development director Europe, commented that the European sales office was continuing to work remotely and was looking forward to the recommencement of shipping for on-going projects.
