Commercial refrigeration company Epta is to donate over €1m to efforts to fight the coronavirus pandemic.

More than 50% has been dedicated to the local communities where Epta’s Italian factories are active, while €500,000 is earmarked for the shared project between the Italian engineering association Anima and the San Raffaele hospital in Milan. The hospital was active from the first day of the coronavirus emergency in Italy taking care of the most seriously ill. The capacity of its intensive care unit has been doubled and will soon be tripled thanks to the contribution of ANIMA.

Epta president and CEO Marco Nocivellito said that the donation to “express our solidarity” during the emergency was a concrete action supported by both the Nocivelli and Triglio Godino families.

“The aim of the initiative is to give support during this emergency also in the medium to long term, in particular, through the development of a vaccine capable of eradicating the coronavirus at the root and avoiding further spread,” Nocivelli said.

Of the local donations, €200,000 was donated to the Ulss 1 Dolomiti hospital in Belluno, €100,000 to Ulss 6 Euganea in Padua for the Schiavonia hospital, €200,000 to the Municipality of Casale Monferrato for the San Spirito di Casale Hospital and €100,000 to the Municipality of Pomezia.
