After completing 19 subcritical CO2 cascade projects in China to date, Carrier is now looking towards transcritical CO2, heard participants at ATMOsphere China 2018.
Tian Jian, engineering director for Carrier Commercial Refrigeration Transicold, updated attendees on Carrier's progress with CO2 installations in China as well as the company’s plans going forward at ATMOsphere China 2018.
"Carrier, as a leading player in transcritical CO2 technology, is ready to move into the market in China," Jian told the audience during the event's Technology Leadership Round Table session.
Haier Carrier was a Platinum sponsor of the ATMOsphere China 2018 event. The company is a joint venture established between China-based Haier Group and US-based Carrier in 2001 and its main facility is in Qingdao.
The Qingdao facility manufactures Carrier's Hybrid CO2OL (CO2 cascade) as well as its CO2OLtec (CO2transcritical) refrigeration systems.
Jian stated that, "in China, we have installed 19 stores with cascade CO2 systems to date. Most of our customers are supermarket retailers".
Though Jian acknowledged that China's warm climate presents challenges for CO2 systems, he was confident in the progress Carrier has made with CO2 technology research and development.
"Carrier will continue to improve the performance," he said. "Our technology has changed from cascade systems to full [transcritical] CO2 applications. We focus on all formats and all climates."
The first ever ATMOsphere China conference on natural refrigerants took place in Beijing from 9-11 April.
