Glasgow Kelvin College recently welcomed Martyn Ives, technical manager at Fujitsu General Air Conditioning, to the opening of its new Fujitsu training facility.
Glasgow Kelvin College students will benefit from Fujitsu's high quality equipment.
Featuring state-of-the-art Fujitsu technology, including a range of multi-units and a VRF Unit, the college’s fully equipped acr training workshop will ensure that the practical experience provided to SVQ students will be unrivalled across Scotland.
As many students are apprentices with some of the principal installers in Scotland, the benefits to Scottish business will be exceptional, ensuring that their employees have up-to-the-minute industry standard skill-sets.
The partnership with Fujitsu will ensure that the shared facility becomes a key provider of high-end technical skills and places the Glasgow Kelvin College firmly at the forefront of delivering training on cutting-edge equipment. With the introduction of cleaner, more climate-friendly technologies in the near future, the college is looking forward to working closely with Fujitsu on any new developments.
Institute of Refrigeration (IOR) president, Steve Gill, commented: “The IOR has a long-standing association with Glasgow Kelvin so I am delighted to be here to officially open the Fujitsu training suite today.
“We all know that providing quality training is vital to the successful future of this industry, therefore it is a great pleasure to see industry and trainers working together. The well-equipped new facility is a real asset to the area and a credit to the collaboration between Fujitsu and Glasgow Kelvin that will benefit the local business, the individual trainees, and our industry for many years to come.”
College principal Alan Sherry added: “We are very excited to be forming this new partnership with an industry-leading manufacturer like Fujitsu, and reaching this milestone is a testament to the hard work of the lecturing staff whose expertise has made this possible. It is also a further demonstration of Fujitsu’s commitment to the high-quality learning provided by the college.
“There will be clear benefits for our students and their employers, providing them with the technical skills which will help them stand out in a busy marketplace.
“Hosting the pioneering Fujitsu Training Workshop here at Glasgow Kelvin College will also allow us to develop further our relationships with industry stakeholders. We are delighted to be playing our part in this new development.”
Mr Ives, Fujitsu’s technical manager, concluded: “It’s a fantastic opportunity to be working with Glasgow Kelvin who have a great reputation both in the area and nationally, and we look forward to working them to provide quality training for students and businesses from across Scotland and beyond.”
