USA: The first VRV unit has rolled off the production line of Daikin’s new 370,000m² manufacturing facility in Houston, Texas.
The latest landmark was achieved earlier this month and celebrated by all employees working at the factory, now dubbed the Daikin Texas Technology Park.
The $417m facility consolidates four Daikin and Goodman manufacturing plants into one, and will employ around 5,000 workers. It manufactures both traditional US ducted products as well as split/VRF technologies.
Recognised as the world’s largest ever tilt-up concrete building, it has been suggested that it will be used as a model for all future Daikin factories.
The same type of equipment is planned for Daikin’s new Vietnamese factory and has been used as a model for the company’s second Indian facility, currently under construction in Rajasthan. It has been suggested that all future plants will use a similar approach and, if effective, the company may also re-examine existing plants in Japan and elsewhere.
